Troop Calendar

Use the troop calendar and Scoutbook communications for current campout dates, registration deadlines, and activity details. Registration emails are sent for each campout, so families should make sure their Scoutbook account is active and set to receive emails.

Scouts must be current on troop fees to participate in troop events and activities.

Troop Campouts

Troop 38 keeps an active schedule throughout the year. Campouts and activities may include outdoor skills, hiking, cooking, geocaching, shooting sports, kayaking, climbing, historical tours, and merit badge work.

Any fees owed to the troop for events or activities should be remitted to the Troop Treasurer before registering for a new event or activity.

Summer Camp

2026 Summer Camp: Camp Kia Kima in Hardy, Arkansas, June 7 through June 13, including travel days.

• Scouts must have attended a troop campout without a parent.
• Scouts must be fiscally current with troop fees.
• Parents should be prepared for limited to no contact during camp week.
• Each Scout and adult leader must submit a printed BSA medical form, including Part C.
• Physicals are required for adult leaders and Scouts attending camp.

Summer Camp Prep

Start gathering gear early and let your Scout help pack so he knows what is in his trunk and can practice using new equipment.

• Pack hydration gear, sleeping gear, lights, bug protection, sunscreen, and camp clothing.
• Phones may be used while traveling but are collected and secured during camp.
• Leaders post photos when possible, but camp may have limited internet and cell service.
• Parents may prepare camp mail in advance for leaders to deliver during the week.

Outside Merit Badge Opportunities

Outside programs can be helpful, but families should remember that these are not troop events unless clearly announced as troop activities.

• Houston Museum of Natural Science: Merit badge sessions at Hermann Park and Sugar Land, including summer programs.
• SHAC Merit Badge Days: Classes taught by professionals and Scouters. Scouts should read the merit badge book, participate fully, and complete prerequisites.

Payments

Payment for events is typically due one week before the event. If a Scout does not attend an event after registering, full payment may still be due to the troop.
